I am a chiropractor, and as such am bound by social pressure to always be a representative of chiropractic. Being a christian I also represent Christ. Being a citizen of the United States of America I represent my country. If I were to evangelize or debate politics on my professional site though I would turn some people off, and I want everyone to be able to come to my practice without feeling judged or threatened. If you would like my professional comments please visit the links provided. With that in mind this is not a professional blog, and I will be exercising my freedom of speech here. I will express my opinion and hope that you too will be willing to express yours. Please comment, question, and enjoy my personal blog. I plan too.

Mormons Volunteer?

We've got it pretty bad here in Utah. All of us horrible people we never help each other out. Ours is such a selfish community. Well I've got news for you. According to new rankings of the percentage of adults who volunteer.

"By state, Utah had the highest rate, 43.9 percent, followed by Nebraska, Minnesota, Alaska and Montana. Nevada had the lowest state rate, 17.7 percent; Florida and New York were the next lowest.
Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Portland, Oregon; were the highest-ranked big cities, while New York City and Las Vegas were the lowest-ranked after Miami. Among 25 mid-size cities, Provo, Utah, came first with a 63 percent rate -- the highest of any jurisdiction in the report." (CNN Source)

I know it's no suprise to those of us who live here, but quite often we get a bad rap. It's nice to see the recognition, but I wonder how much higher it would be if they counted eagle scout projects, Relief Society baking dinners for women having new babies, youth clean up projects, teaching sunday school, or for that matter any of the volunteer work we do in everyone of our callings.
